Hello everybody! I’m back and better than ever! We completed a rewarding Summer 2019 term of camp. This summer was life-changing for me! And having to fit 7 weeks into this blog is going to be challenging, but here I go!
I always think each summer of ministry in the Caribbean can't top the last, but somehow God brings new things to the table and it always tops the last! The theme this summer was called Oasis. The message of living a Spirit-filled life got me looking at myself as God moved in ways in my heart and the people around me. It was AMAZING. The BEST summer of my life. He allowed so many people to pour into me while I was pouring into other people. Even though the summer of 17 hour days is exhausting, I was being refreshed continually on the inside.
There's a verse in the Bible, Proverbs 11:25. It talks about exactly what was taking place. “The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” People always ask me “How do you guys do it?” But the answer is simple: Jesus. In my last blog, I said, “There is nothing like seeing Jesus come in and meet them where they are and completely change their lives. When someone experiences Jesus for the first time, for who He is, that is one of the most incredible things to ever witness.” I saw Him change people's lives day in and day out. Being able to sit down and talk to a camper face-to-face about what they're going through opens the door to pray with them. I get to see them understand God's love. They start to see they are not alone with their struggles. If I survived 100% of my worst days and am living a life experiencing peace, joy, and purpose, THEY CAN TOO! Being able to build relationships with them is one of my favorite parts of camping ministry.
The many roles I have during the camp term allow me to see camp from different angles. Being the Discipleship Coordinator, on the Leadership Squad, Media Squad, and Camp Counselor pushed and challenged me. God used everything to mold and shape me into living free as the person He has made to be. I am forever grateful!
To everyone that I got to do the summer with, I love you all immensely. To everyone that has supported me on this journey, thank you! We are better together, and I couldn’t have done it without you. I honor God for bringing us together to walk this journey of missions in the Bahamas at Camp Bahamas! See ya soon!
