SOS: Camp Bahamas Summer Theme 2023

The most rewarding summer of my life has passed. This included 5 weeks of Bahamian youth ministry. 5 Weeks of healing for all camp counselors, campers and myself. 5 weeks of the best Leadership squad. 5 weeks of seeing the Holy Spirit move so evidently. 5 weeks of endless joy, laughs and friendship. It is hard for me to fit all of my emotions and thoughts on what “SOS” was for me.

What is SOS?

SOS - Save Our Souls. A theme bringing ALIVE the FAMOUS MERCY of Jesus towards us. He is our savior. We are souls with a body, not just a body with a soul. He wants to rescue our soul in distress, in need of saving. He is not just a crutch but THE CURE for our lives. My great need meets His Famous Mercy. The theme was taught, prayed, and lived out as we discipled our Bahamian campers and grew in our own awe of the FAMOUS MERCY given to each one of us.

We’ve had many summers of practice. Camp Bahamas has officially run 21 summers of camping ministry. Out of those 21 years, I can confidently say that I have never witnessed the Holy Spirit move more evidently than what took place this summer. Every day, our leadership squad woke up knowing that God was moving and softening the hearts of those at camp. I personally got to pray for and watch chains of bondage being broken in campers' lives. I saw deliverance from years of spiritual battles and immense healing happening. I saw God restoring and making new peoples’ lives. I saw many campers come to believe in Jesus for the first time.

This summer for me has been a blessing I didn't know that I needed. I want to give a shoutout to my roomies for the summer: Nya, Jai, and Chrissy! It was a PRIVILEGE to be able to do life with these incredible women. This summer made me recognize that prayer is powerful and that God listens to our prayers. There were times that we prayed, and that same day, what we prayed for happened in front of our eyes. This summer I watched over 80+ campers get baptized as an outward expression of what has happened in their hearts and many more SEE who JESUS IS and what a relationship for THEMSELVES. This is something to CELEBRATE!

A CAMP WEDDING

After the most incredible summer serving at camp with the greatest people, two people on our Leadership Squad were married at the end of August! Chrissy and Dante have been coming to camp for 11 years now, first as campers and then staff. They are two of my best friends. Relationships grow close when you serve in ministry together. Watching them fall in love over the past few years and then getting the privilege of standing by their side on the wedding day was amazing! I can't wait to see two of the most fun and incredible people I know start their lives living for the Lord and making a difference in the lives of youth on their island.

SZN 1 IS HERE AGAIN!

Now that the month of September has rolled around again, my job as the Discipleship Coordinator is back in full swing! Being the Discipleship Coordinator during the next few months is a crucial role for me. Campers and counselors have now gone back to their normal lives and they are needing the love and encouragement they get at Camp, their home away from home.

The full-time CB Team made of Richard, Andrea, Jono, Ghost haha, and myself, are feeling refreshed and ready for what this new season has for us! It is this SZN that begins the “camp year” for us. We spend a lot of time seeking God’s will for the discipleship goals and next summer of camp ministry.

PRAYER CHALLENGE:

1. The CB Team - Vision for this new camp year, for wisdom, strength and integrity to do everything with excellence for God’s glory.

2. For my role as Discipleship Coordinator: Please be praying for me as I have gone from mostly face-to-face to now organizing online connections and physical meet-ups with all the campers and counselors. It's a huge responsibility that I need God’s heart for andHis energy to flow through me.

3. The CB Needs - Resources and friends that partner throughout the year make this 24-acre Camp the ultimate setting for campers to encounter God! Mission teams and financial supporters back the ministry and give it the ability to operate.

4. My Needs: Continued partnership as God provides friends to help meet my monthly living expenses. My goal is to gain three monthly supporters by the end of the year!

CB is Non-Profit and staff is missionary supported.

Here is a helpful giving link for those called to fill that need as I am missionary supported https://give.cornerstone.cc/campbahamas
