Happy June! I thought it was a great time to update you on what has been going on and what is to come! So here I go...

LIFE IN QUARANTINE (over 11 weeks now and counting...)

It is crazy to think that it is already June. This has been the fastest yet slowest year all at the same Time. I turned 20 this month and am so thankful I get to serve as a young missionary at a place I see God working in people's lives! Making the most of changed plans, I've refused to waste the months, seeing GOOD coming out of being still with Him. Who I was going into quarantine is not who I am now. I am a firm believer that no matter where you are, what you have been through, or whatever age you might be, there is always room for growth and improvement. I spent time in the word. Time in prayer. Time in worship. Time hearing from God. Time being grateful for the great things in my life. God worked on me, molded me, shaped me, and refreshed me!

MINISTRY CONTINUES AT CAMP

Even though the world came to a pause for a few months, we were blessed and so thankful to be able to continue so much of what this ministry entails. With 20 mission and retreat groups having to postpone due to COVID-19, I had to shift from hosting these groups and zero in on my other roles at Camp.

- One of my main roles as the Discipleship Coordinator has been one of the biggest joys in my life. Being able to connect, love on, encourage, to let them know they aren't alone, to pray for our counselors and campers is something I love. I have been able to reach out to them during all of this multiple times and to be even more intentional with them. I'm trying to encourage them, but I think I am the one that gets even more encouraged from being apart of their lives.

- One of my other main roles is as the Assistant Admin! At Camp Bahamas, we always want to "make it better." I have been able to accomplish things in our office hours to make the ministry run more smoothly. We have been extensively planning and preparing our summer camp while waiting, hoping, and praying for the best outcome when the Bahamian borders open and we learn the protocols that could make camp possible during the next few months. We want nothing more than to have our cabins filled with some of the best counselors and campers for the whole summer of 2020. But, we know that no matter what happens this summer or what will take place, God has the perfect plan, one that is way better than what we could imagine. We are trusting Him and moving forward in faith!

- Upgrading and maintaining the Camp property has also been one of the exciting things going on. From cleaning to painting to lifting and moving, fixing the pool and even adding to our kitchen, we have been preparing it all! Being able to work as a team with our Camp Bahamas staff has brought us even closer and made us stronger!

WHEN WILL THE BAHAMAS OPEN BACK UP?

From having a total nationwide lockdown for months, The Bahamian Government has set 5 phases for the islands of The Bahamas moving towards a new normal. We are getting closer each day to seeing Phase 5 happen. We deal with the same things everyone else has had to deal with, being frustrated or discouraged when your timeline doesn't match up with your countries timeline. But, we are getting more and more information everyday and anticipate being able to set our summer camping plan shortly. We know it is in God's hands and we have been placing our hope in that.

Although the capital, New Providence, Bimini and Grand Bahama are under more strict regulations because of the COVID-19 cases on those islands,  most of the family islands are finally in Phase 4! (see Phases below) We now have all beaches, public parks, and domestic travel open. This has been encouraging for us as we move closer to Phase 5.

I will be keeping you guys updated! For more insight into my journey at Camp Bahamas, you can head to the main page of my website. You will find a place to subscribe and submit your contact information.

See ya soon! :)

PRAYER REQUESTS:

1. Future Regulations for The Bahamas - As of right now, we are awaiting exact protocol from the Office of the Prime Minister so we can determine the timeline in moving forward with our regular camping terms in July and August.

2. Our Campers and Counselors - We know that this quarantine season has been challenging and hard for most of them. Their prayer requests flood in weekly.

3. The CB Team - Pray that we continue to trust and depend on God to meet all of our needs spiritually, mentally, financially and in ALL THINGS CAMP!
