Hey everyone! Big things that have been happening at CB so I thought it was time for an update!
SZN 1 SERIES
We are in the middle of SZN 1 at Camp Bahamas! Most people do not realize that we have three different seasons during our year and each season is exactly four months long. SZN 1 begins with the beginning of our camper’s school year: September, October, November, and December. SZN 2 begins with the beginning of the second half of their school year: January, February, March, and April. SZN 3 begins right before the summer: May, June, July, and August. (SZN 3 happens to be our FAVORITE because that is when Camp fills up with campers)
During our summer season, we came up with the idea to do online devotions on IGTV for our campers in a time when everything seemed as if it was falling apart. We got many of our amazing counselors together to make it happen! It went better than we could have imagined. It was an incredible experience to see God use them.
We were looking at our year and we saw the need to continue new ways to communicate with our campers when they can't be with us in person. Through praying and seeking God on how to do this, we knew we needed to figure out a way to encourage them more. And so we did!
We decided to stay with our theme “Blue Skies Ahead” for our online devotions all year. We met with our counselors on Zoom to share the dream with them. Bahamian school started late this year, so we began on our campers’ first day of school.
Every week on Instagram, we share verses with them to help in their daily Devotions. Ending each week on Friday, we share a video coming from two of our counselors sharing from their week and giving our campers a tip of the week so they can GROW in their faith all year long.
BEST DAYS AHEAD
We know that the best days are ahead and we are going to do anything we can to make it happen! Our yearly calendar never fully stops if you think about it. For the last few weeks, I’ve been scheduling out my goals for my Camp life. I want to always make the most of my days, no matter the ups and downs of life in 2020. A few weeks ago, I shared a photo on my Facebook of our view from the porch at camp. My caption said “There is more than meets the eye. Behind this photo, here are many hours of hot, hard work that needs to be done. It could involve anything from different types of projects to office work, to planning, to hauling, to cleaning, to connecting, to moving, to painting, to praying, to worshipping, and much more. It all is being done to make a difference in this country at CB!” That is really what it is all about, making a difference in my country and giving all the glory to God.
FIRST TIME LEAVING ELEUTHERA SINCE 2020 BEGAN
Last month, we traveled to Nassau. We had a few appointments scheduled that had been delayed because of COVID-19. Although all social gatherings, nightly curfews, and weekend lockdowns were still in place, we were able to see a few counselors and campers which was incredible! We have waited all year for moments like these.
We keep reminding ourselves that The Best Is STILL Yet To Come!
FIRST MISSION TEAM IN 7 MONTHS!
For years, we have wanted to get repairs done to the Gym roof because of rust and some major leaks. In the past year, my dad connected with a friend in the roofing business who connected us with the right products. This posed a problem as the product was very expensive. We were unsure if it could happen anytime soon. It was a great surprise that God used our friend Warren Yutzy to not only supply all the materials, but he brought a crew of men with him and personally got the roof coated!
A group of six people made their way down to CB all the way from Michigan to The Bahamas! It was refreshing for all of us here at CB to see new faces. Within just 6 days, our Gym roof was completely re-done and it looks perfect! They were an amazing, humble and hard working group. We are thankful that God allowed us to cross paths with them! It was a reminder once again that God is faithfully providing!
Thank you all for your prayers, support, and encouragement in the last month! It does not go unnoticed. If you feel the calling to support me financially on my journey, the link to is on my main page in the “Partner with me” section!
See ya soon!
